Origin
and identity

Budapest gave Puskás a team ahead of its time and a platform for one of football’s most reliable left feet.

At Kispest and Honvéd, Puskás became captain and creative scorer of Hungary’s Golden Team, Olympic champion in 1952 and World Cup finalist in 1954.

Exile after 1956 seemed to interrupt the story. Instead, he rebuilt himself at Real Madrid and added three European Cups, including four goals in the 1960 final.
