and identity

Pernambuco produced a playmaker-forward whose imagination arrived with unusual force and range.

Rivaldo developed through northeastern and São Paulo clubs, starred at Palmeiras and Deportivo, then became Barcelona’s attacking reference from 1997.

The 1999 Ballon d’Or recognised a player of long shots, free kicks, and acrobatic finishes. In 2002, his five goals and combination play were central to Brazil’s World Cup triumph.
