Origin
and identity

Aleksander Barkov's combination of offensive production and defensive recognition became a cornerstone of Florida's championship era.

Barkov arrived through the second overall draft pick in 2013. His scoring developed steadily, reaching 96 points in 2018–19, but the awards record reveals a broader player. The Lady Byng Trophy that year and his later Selke wins recognized different aspects of his contribution.

The Florida center received the Selke Trophy in 2021, 2024 and 2025. The latter two seasons also ended with Stanley Cup victories, linking individual defensive honors with the team's greatest results. His profile shows why a forward's influence cannot be reduced to goals alone.
