Origin
and identity

Chris Pronger's reach, distribution and imposing presence could alter the character of an entire playoff series.

Pronger developed from a high draft choice into a defender capable of controlling both ends of the rink. St. Louis provided the stage for his extraordinary 2000 season, when he won league MVP from the blue line.

His influence travelled with him. Edmonton, Anaheim and Philadelphia each reached a Stanley Cup Final during his tenure, while Olympic and world championship gold established an equally substantial international record.
