Origin
and identity

Connor McDavid brought a new generation's expectations to Edmonton and answered with individual scoring and playoff honours.

Chosen first in the 2015 draft, McDavid was still nineteen when Edmonton entrusted him with its captaincy. The distinction placed leadership alongside the attacking talent that had already made him a celebrated junior player.

His achievements span much more than one regular season. A 2023 collection of major NHL awards was followed by the 2024 playoff MVP award, while his overtime goal won Canada's 2025 4 Nations Face-Off final.
