Calgary selected Tkachuk sixth in 2016. His offensive development reached 104 points in 2021–22, including 42 goals. A change to Florida did not interrupt that rise: he registered 109 points in his first Panthers regular season, giving his new chapter an immediate statistical identity.

The postseason then became central to his story. Tkachuk recorded 24 points in 2023 before contributing to Florida's Stanley Cup victories in 2024 and 2025.
