Patrick Roy established his reputation through championship goaltending in both Montreal and Colorado.

Roy's first great NHL statement came as a rookie. In 1986 he helped Montreal win the Stanley Cup and collected the playoff MVP award at twenty, beginning a career closely associated with high-pressure postseason performances.

A mid-season move to Colorado in 1995 changed the setting without changing the outcome. He won championships with the Avalanche in 1996 and 2001, ending his playing career with four Cups and three Conn Smythe Trophies.
