Origin
and identity

William Nylander became a recognizable Toronto attacking figure through a progression from skilled prospect to repeated forty-goal scorer.

Born in Calgary and representing Sweden internationally, Nylander was selected eighth by Toronto in 2014. His first full NHL regular season produced 61 points. Further development gradually changed the scale of his contribution, with an 80-point campaign in 2021–22 marking an important step.

Nylander scored 40 goals in each of the next two regular seasons, then 45 in 2024–25. His 98 points in 2023–24 show that the finishing was accompanied by substantial playmaking. The archive entry follows that individual progression within one of hockey's most visible club environments.
