Origin
and identity
Eleonora Lo Bianco's setting linked Italy's first world title to a long period of international success and outstanding club play.
Lo Bianco helped Italy win the 2002 World Championship, then European titles in 2007 and 2009. Her distribution gave a varied attack room to work without demanding the same solution on every rally.
With Bergamo she also won European club titles, including the 2010 Champions League final. By the time she announced retirement in 2019, she had made 548 appearances for the Italian national team.
