Origin
and identity

Simone Giannelli's setting and leadership guided Italy's young side to European and world championships.

An Olympic silver medallist while still a teenager, he later became the captain of a renewed national team. The 2021 European title came with the MVP award.

Italy won every match on the way to the 2022 world championship, with Giannelli named MVP. He captained another world title in 2025 and again earned the tournament's best-setter recognition.
